Phone Content

I want to make a phone content section that talks about the intricacies of the various phone OSes out there, wallpapers, filetypes, themes, glitches, etc. Mustacheboyo (talk) 09:28, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

Phone Content (cont.)

This is a good idea. Maybe on pages that list the OS as "Samsung Proprietary" and such, you could make a page that links to those with the UI themes they use, proprietary file formats (IFG comes to mind), and such. Dumbphonepreservation (talk) 11:31, 24 May 2022 (UTC)

R320s platform

I was talking with someone and they told me that the Ericsson R320s platform, used in for example the Sony Ericsson Z600, should instead be called the T28 platform, as that phone came before the R320s (1999 vs 2000), and supposedly they are both running the same software (and hardware) platform.

Does anyone have any comments on this before we change all mentions of the R320s platform to the T28 platform?

I'm also planning on making a page about that platform, probably just a list of devices to start off with. --GtrxAC (talk) 22:01, 7 July 2023 (UTC)

No complaints from me, you have the go-ahead. --Dumbphonepreservation (Dumbphonepreservation) 02:15, 8 July 2023 (UTC)

Delete unwanted watermarked photo

Hello! I want to delete such file:

Help me please, because it contains watermark of Samsung Galaxy A21s! --SammyFreak (talk) 15:53, 10 August 2023 (UTC)

Since no one has so far replied, perhaps we should leave it until someone gets a new picture that does not have a watermark? I cannot promise anything, however I may be able to obtain such a picture, perhaps from a friend that still has one, either in use (which should be on it's last months since 2G and 3G are being shut down in a few months in our country) or in their drawer. --Moriel5 (talk) 22:51, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

KaiOS (Specificaly 2.5.x and Below)

As it would appear that KaiOS Technologies considers all KaiOS versions earlier than 3.0 legacy, the various OEMs no longer support any pre-3.0 KaiOS devices, with official app support for them being on best case life-support basis (as the APIs have changed), and even OSS development for them has mostly dried up (there is some hope via PostMarketOS, however that is irrelevant for our purposes), perhaps it is time to revisit documenting information about them?

And since hardware-wise, in some aspects, they are a bridge between legacy and modern devices (for example, the batteries they use, such as the Nokia 8110 4G's BL-4UL, which has a higher capacity than the highest documented here, at 1500mAh), even if they are not yet considered legacy, I do believe that they should be mentioned (with clear notices that they are not yet legacy) on the pages of the components that are documented here, such as (again) the batteries. --Moriel5 (talk) 22:48, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

Update: I may be wrong regarding the batteries, since I was wrong regarding the 8110 4G, that has a BV-6A. --Moriel5 (talk) 23:01, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

In my personal opinion, KaiOS is just a tad too new to be on LPCWiki as the first version released in 2017, while the cutoff for other platforms here currently is 2015 to 2016. Most KaiOS devices run effectively the same hardware as entry-level smartphones from 2015 onward, so some day it may not be out of the question. I think the few Firefox OS phones that are out there could fit though! --Dumbphonepreservation (talk) 13:18, 7 May 2024 (UTC)

That is understandable, if in my opinion unfortunate, since I would like to see what data still available be preserved, since there is not much easily-obtained information in the KaiOS world, with some of the main information locations about (such as the GerdaOS website and some of the BananaHackers resources) in danger of disappearing (they are only accessible for however long the website hosts keep them up, and there is no planned attempt to keep them up any longer),

What do you think about mentioning KaiOS devices, where relevant, without dedicated pages and with notices that they are not yet legacy?

Regarding Firefox OS, yeah, I agree. I'll try finding time to post information about my Alcatel OneTouch Fire. --Moriel5 (talk) 02:19, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
