Siemens CF62

The Siemens CF62 (codenamed Leopard) is a basic tri-band clamshell phone announced by Siemens in February 2004.

The CF62 was designed to be a fun entry-level model - one of its stand-out features is the animated ring lights around the keypad, which could be programmed using the pre-installed composer application. Several predefined light patterns are also included.

It is one of the few flip phones made by Siemens, as they were known primarily for making bar shaped devices. The phone comes in Cool Grey (more common, shown here) and Cool Cashmere, and features a strap holder similar to the Sony Ericsson Z200.

Variants

  • CF63: Has band 850 instead of 900.

Java support

This phone can run Java ME applications downloaded via WAP. If your operator has dropped support for WAP 1.x but still has an active GSM network, you can use a replacement WAP 1.x gateway by editing the phone's browser profile and setting the IP address to, for example, one of these. Installing apps via a data cable has not been tested yet.

Despite having a decent memory heap size, the 16-bit CPU in the CF62 paired with its relatively high resolution display means a lot of games will struggle to run on it. This can even be seen in the pre-installed applications, which can take up to two minutes to start up. As of December 2023, the worst JBenchmark score found by the community belongs to the Siemens CF62.
