The Samsung SCH-U540 or u540 is a mid-range CDMA flip phone released in 2007 on Verizon Wireless and Telus.
While its flat design is similar to that of other phones offered in the past for Verizon, the phone differs from many VGA-only capable phones in that it offers the VCast music download service. The outside of the phone has touch controls that activate the MP3 player when in standby mode. It also features a "HOLD" button to keep the touchpad from accidentally becoming activated. The U540 has GPS with e911 and support for VZ Navigator and Telus' GPS service.
The user interface is an updated 2007 flavor of the Verizon UI. The phone is completely devoid of the red bars that were common on older Verizon phones.
