The Nokia N91 (typed RM-43; codenamed Nemo) is a high-end Symbian S60 smartphone announced by Nokia on April 27, 2005, and released in April 2006.

The N91 was one of the first smartphones from Nseries, being announced along with other Nokia Nseries phones: N70 and N90. It was initially scheduled to release in the fourth quarter of 2005, but it was repeatedly delayed before it finally released in April 2006 alongside N71 and N80, almost exactly a year after its announcement.

It was their first and only device by Nokia to utilize a small 0.85-inch hard disk drive, initially in 4 GB capacity, and second one overall after the Samsung SGH-i300, which allows user to store thousands of music files, as it was music-oriented. It was also one of the first phones to feature a 3.5mm headphone jack (not to be confused with their 3.5mm charging jack).

The other main feature of N91 is the best and loudest audio output from the phone on the market at the time. It was utilized with a special Toshiba DAC-33 chip and the Harman/Kardon amplifier to provide the "louder, deep bass and rich sound quality with perfect low, mid-range and a slightly damped high range frequency".

It was available in several colors: Light Blue Chrome, Dark Gray Chrome, and later in Black (for the 8GB/Music Edition).

Variants

  • N91-2 (N91 8GB/Music Edition; codenamed Nemo-W): announced on September 26, 2006. Aside from expanding the HDD storage space, it was packed with other minor improvements, such as addition of a Bluetooth A2DP profile, interface enhancements and additions, and other improvements.
  • N91-5 (typed RM-158): Chinese 4GB variant, lacks WLAN and 3G, and priced less than the original variant.
