The Nokia E72 (type RM-530, officially known as E72-1, codenamed Sonja) is a business-oriented QWERTY phone announced on June 15, 2009, and released in October of the same year.

The E72 features a trackpad called "Optical Navi key", letting users to use the web browser more easily and it acts as two-way shutter button for the camera. It was the only Nokia phone to have that feature, though a similar implementation named "Navi Wheel" was available on some Nseries phones, which worked in two directions (clockwise and counterclockwise) instead of four plus tapping.

It was available in White, Zodium Black, Metal Grey, Topaz Brown and Amethyst Purple. The "White Edition" color appeared in April 2010.

Variants

  • E72-2 (type RM-529) - American version with different bands
  • E73 Mode (type RM-658) - A variant of E72 with slightly different front design and has different bands. Released on June 3, 2010, exclusively for T-Mobile in United States.
