The Nokia 6070 (type RM-166) is a tri-band GSM candybar phone announced on 28 February 2006 and released in April of the same year.

The 6070 is a lower-mid range phone, using an older platform and lacking Bluetooth. This phone was designed for people with basic needs and offered a few extra features, such as a VGA camera and infrared port. It had two sister models, 5070 and 6080, each with slightly different designs.

The 6070 and its variants don't have a service manual, only schematics are available.[1]

Variants

  • 6070b (RM-167): American variant with different bands.
  • 5070 (RM-166): Mostly identical specs, but different keypad design and colors (red or blue). Announced in March 2007.
    • 5070b (RM-167): American variant of the 5070.

Disassembly

The clips holding the keypad

This disassembly guide applies to the 6070 and is untested for the 5070. We are not responsible for any damage caused by following this guide.

Prerequisites

  • A "TORX T6H" screwdriver
  • A small flat head screwdriver or other similar flat object

Tutorial

  1. Remove the battery cover, battery, and SIM card.
  2. Remove the front cover which is held on by clips, starting from the bottom side, above the pop-port connector.
  3. Turn to the back of the phone. There are four clips holding the keypad in place (see the picture). Use a flat head screwdriver to disconnect the clips by pushing them to the direction shown by the arrows.
  4. Turn to the front and remove the four screws on each corner of the phone. The display is connected with a flex cable and can be carefully removed.
