Nokia 5235 Comes with Music

The Nokia 5230 (type RM-588, codenamed Simon) is a budget touchscreen smartphone announced on August 25, 2009, and released in November of the same year.

It is essentially a downgraded version of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. This phone was competitively priced and marketed at active users who enjoy music, social networking, and other entertainment. It features integration with social media platforms and Nokia's services such as Ovi Store and Ovi Maps. In some markets, it was sold with Nokia's Comes With Music service.[1]

The 5230 is one of the best selling phones ever, with about 150 million units sold.

Issues

  • The touch digitizer's flex cable is very fragile and there is a high risk of breaking it if not disassembling carefully.
  • The phone has overall low build quality, for example there has been one case of the volume and camera shutter buttons randomly falling off.

Variants

  • 5228 (RM-625): Released in January 2010, lacks 3G and GPS.
  • 5233 (RM-625): Same as the 5228, but has GPS.
  • 5230 Nuron: North American exclusive, with preloaded maps.
  • 5232: China Mobile-exclusive, lacks 3G support
  • 5238: Chinese variant with 3G support. Shares the same FCC ID as the 5230.
  • 5235 Comes With Music Edition: Includes free music downloads from the Nokia Music Store.
